Coming soon: the next SF Vegan Bakesale! And they need volunteers! Contact the organizers to sign up to bake! Follow them on Twitter to keep up with news! Or just be at VegNews HQ, 3505 20th St. (at Mission) on Sunday, April 22, between noon and 4 p.m. to buy tons of vegan treats. Sales benefit the House Rabbit Society and you know we love us some bunnies. This site might as well be sponsored by bunnies. And pit bulls. And crippling depression. And big-ass cookies.
Get on this, people!

another perspective on smoothies
Though Happy Herbivore (& Drs Esselstyn & Campbell) make awesome and valid points about whole foods vs processed, other doctors have a different perspective on smoothies. Check out this link from my own personal nutrition guru, Vegan Epicurean. It’s well documented with tons of research (15 endnotes!) and focuses on how smoothies can indeed be healthy (because sometimes (not always, nothing is ever always), they really are not—it has a lot to do with what ingredients (and how much of said ingredients) are going into your smoothies…focus on kale, y’all, KALE!).
Yes! Do yourselves a favor and make some well-balanced, perfectly delicious green smoothies.
Sunchokes (a.k.a. jerusalem artichokes) are a gnarly looking vegetable, but quite tasty! They are similar to potatoes, but less starchy. This roasted combo goes great with soup on a winter day.

Everything about this is gorgeous. Must try.
Chickpea Magazine, Vol. 2 (Winter 2011)
The second issue of Chickpea Magazine, a new and oh so lovely vegan quarterly you should be reading, is now online. Go forth, click through, and read. While you’re at it and if you haven’t already done so, check out the Fall 2011 issue (if you look closely, you’ll find something of mine there, too *cue shameless self-promotion*).
fuck yeah vegan pizza: "The Ultimate Uncheese Cookbook" giveaway!
People! I am super-excited to bring you the first ever giveaway here on fuck yeah vegan pizza! (The first of many, I hope! Big things, I said I was working on ‘em!)
Up for grabs today is a copy of Jo Stepaniak’s The Ultimate Uncheese Cookbook: Delicious Dairy-Free Cheeses and…
My feelings are greasy and Daiya-flavored.
(I love how the pizza box reads “Fucking Pizza.” SOUNDS LIKE MY KIND OF JOINT.)

A pear-filled “Danish pastry-brioche-strudel hybrid” from Bread Without Butter! I just found this fabulous blog dedicated to vegan bread via Finding Vegan (of course). The recipe for the brioche came from Have Cake Will Travel. I totally love brioche like so hard. But I haven’t had it since going vegan! Because brioche is generally butter-rific. I have got to try this recipe though, I would be so happy to wrap my life in brioche! Brioche with raspberry jam! Huzzah!
This mention from Vegansaurus about my other blog pretty much made my day. Ah, simple joys. Thanks, y’all. -T
